This New Camera Sensor Eliminates The Need For Flash

I’ll just say it – there is nothing worse than a camera flash. It’s distracting, obvious, and makes most photos look terrible. Yes, sometimes flash is necessary – but photographers will tell you that when you can avoid using it – do.

But now there’s a new imaging sensor out there that eliminates the need for flash altogether. Hallelujah!  A team of researchers at Nanyang technological University (NTU) in Singapore recently created the new sensor, which makes it possible to take perfect photos, even in dark lighting.

The sensor, which is make of graphene, is 1,000 times more sensitive to light than the sensors in today’s cameras. It’s also sensitive to both visible and infrared light, which means it can be used in any sort of camera – from Nikon point-and-shoots to satellite cameras. Graphene is also super durable and resistant to heat, making it a great material to use. Added bonus? It’s not expensive.

Does this idea excite you? Do you think camera companies would be crazy not to adopt this design? Let us know in the comments.
